Today’s question What about work?
We’ve been working and traveling for the past three years now with our two kids and two cats. Justin began working from home as a freelance website and graphic designer a couple of years before we set off on the road. I, on the other hand, wasn’t as lucky, it took a bit more work for me to figure out exactly how I could contribute to our new lifestyle. I searched the internet and asked everyone we ran into what they did for a living and in the process, discovered a tremendous amount of jobs that allow for travel.
Many of them are family-friendly, some of them aren’t, so I have divided them into two separate groups. The first group will be jobs that are great for families, and the second group is jobs that would work for couples or individuals. Amongst each of these groups, you will find jobs that require you to travel slowly, ones that require an internet signal, and others that take a bit more creativity.
Before you continue to read further, I would suggest you think about asking your current place of employment if they have any remote job opportunities. This position may require you to take a pay cut, but the amount of freedom it offers would make it worthwhile. Plus if you combine that job with something below, like renting your house out on Airbnb, you’d be golden. We’ve met a couple of computer programmers that have done this very thing.
