DO YOU NEED A DEGREE TO TEACH ENGLISH ABROAD?
If you’re wondering if you can teach kids English abroad without a bachelor’s degree, you’re wondering the same thing I did when I first learned about teaching online.
Is it possible? Yes. It does help to have a bachelor’s degree, but a degree isn’t a requirement by all companies. Some only require you to be TEFL certified, which is great because it’s much cheaper and less time consuming than receiving a degree.

TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. A TEFL course covers topics, including teaching language skills, grammar, lesson planning, and classroom management.
There are a ton of organizations that will help get your TEFL certification. Many don’t even require you to get off of your couch. You have the option to take the course online, in-person, or a combination of both. I’ve seen the prices be anywhere from a couple of hundred dollars to a couple of thousand.
I’ve gathered a list of companies that provide TEFL certification. You can click on each one to learn more and determine which course is the best fit. I’d suggest contacting a few of them asking things like whats and included, why you should choose their program, and research their reviews before finalizing your decision.
