Waterfalls are my favorite. I love them! The sheer sound of the falling water relaxes and energizes me all at the same time. If that makes any since? We’ve both hiked and drove quite a few miles to take a peek at some waterfalls. Lucky for us though, Sioux Falls required little driving and absolutely no hiking. SCORE!
In it’s past the falls attracted both industrial and Pleasure Seekers who would come to enjoy both the falls and Seney Island. They enjoyed the shady woods and the island that offered swimming, fishing, picnicking, and courting.
This was all taken away when the industries became, interested in the it’s resources. Rock quarry companies and the hydroelectric plants, removed stones from the falls and a larger dam was built, for the hydroelectric plant. With the noise, fumes and polluted river, people could no longer enjoy the recreational activities.
These changes eventually eliminated the Island and dramatically changed the falls into what it is today. Still gorgeous just not the same .

The lookout tower and Mackenzie looking out one of the windows on our way up. Can’t wait to see our next waterfall in Michigan. : )
